Genotype

• the actual gene combination which an individual possesses

Phenotype

• the traits which an individual expresses (ie. visible traits)

Homozygous

• when an individual possesses either 2 dominant 'genes' or 2 recessive 'genes'

Heterozygous

• when an individual possesses one dominant and one recessive 'gene'

Alleles

• two (or more) alternate forms of a gene

Monohybrid cross

• when a single contrasting trait is crossed, say a tall plant with a short one
