Decomposers:

Organisms that feed on dead or waste matter. Decomposers are considered the second most important classification of organsim because it performs two functions; it reduces and recycles.

Reduces: Decreases the actual amount of matter. Without this we would be drowning in dead and waste matter.

Recycles: Returns nutrients to the soil for use by the next generation of plants.
