Forms of Energy

Forms of energy:
-electrical energy: energy of moving electrical particles. Electrical energy runs your stereo, toaster, and light bulbs as well as many other applications.

-thermal energy: energy caused by the vibration or movement of particles in an object. The greater the movement of the particles, the more thermal energy the object has.

-light energy: energy caused by the vibration or movement of particles in an object. The greater the movement of the particles, the more thermal energy the object has.

-mechanical energy: energy in a moving object or moving parts. A moving car, bicycle, or a thrown bal have mechanical energy.

-magnetic energy: the energy that causes some kinds of metals to pull together or push apart some other metals.

-gravitational energy: energy that an object has before it falls to earth. A ball about to be dropped has gravitational energy.

-sound energy: energy that we can hear. It is caused by vibrations of air or objects at frequencies that we can hear.

-elastic energy: energy stored in an object when its shape is changed by stretching or compressing. A stretched rubber band has elastic energy.

-potential energy: stored energy.

-kinetic energy: energy of anything moving.
