transform light energy into chemical energy using a process called
photosynthesis. The word "photosynthesis" comes from the Greek terms
photo, meaning light, syn, meaning together, and thesis,
meaning putting. Green plants are able to capture the sun's energy because they
have a green chemical called chlorophyll.
